Severe weather has fascinated me for as long as I can remember. Even at a young age when others would go indoors when storms were near, I would be out watching the sky. In 1997, I relocated to the Kansas City area and my excitement for storms has grown since moving here. Storms here in the midwest are spectacular to see and are so different from the storms I had watched out west. My family and friends have nicknamed me "lightningrod" as I usually get too close to the action and RARELY miss a storm. I have been known to drive 300 miles on a week night to shoot lightning and arrive back home just in time to go to work! I only wish I could be a full-time storm chaser! In the off-season I will shoot landscapes, birds, or just about anything that moves while constantly thinking of that first spring storm! My goal is to eventually see and photograph a tornado!
