Shane Kirk > UFO OR CLOUD? I will never forget this early morning storm. I left my house around 7:00 p.m. and took photos off and on for almost eight hours! I got a call from my wife while standing in a field shooting this storm. She asked if I had planned on coming home before work. When I asked her what time it was she said 3:30 a.m.! Time flies when you're having fun! I was two hours from home and had to be to work at 8:00!
Shane Kirk > Kansas City, Missouri on August 10th, 2009.
Shane Kirk > What a great light show! This was taken in Lenexa, Kansas on the 16th of August, 2009.
Shane Kirk > Taken on April 18th, 2009 near Braman, Oklahoma. I was with my Dad and brother and we drove 570 miles round trip this day! It was awesome to see this coming toward us!
Shane Kirk > This shot was taken on October 13th,2007 in Kansas City,Kansas in the Lakeside race-track parking lot. The clouds were so wicked looking with this storm! I stayed and took as many shots as I could before the rains came. I wanted to capture the underside of the clouds as the lightning lit them up. I felt lucky with this shot as two shots later my back-up battery was dead after an all night chase! I have since bought a charger for my vehicle!
Shane Kirk > July 11th, 2009 in Bucyrus, Kansas. A lot of people say this looks like a person walking.
Shane Kirk > "LIGHTNING MAN" was the name given to this photo by my wife. When I got home after 5 hours of chasing storms, she told me this looked like a stick figure looking down at the earth. I would have never noticed!
Shane Kirk > Taken on June 22nd in Bucyrus,Kansas. I set the alarm for 3:00 a.m. to check doppler and this was a very small storm cell but I decided to get out anyway. I'm glad I did! Almost all of my shots were with lightning going across the sky. I only had one shot with a strike hitting the ground.
Shane Kirk > This shot was taken early a.m. on June 4th,2008 in Leawood,Kansas. It was pouring the whole time I shot this evening. I took the van and opened the sliding door and folded myself like a pretzel so I could shoot without holding the umbrella! Vans are great for photographing while it's raining, as long as the carpet dries-out before the wife drives it the next day!
